Shri Meenakshi temple was built many centuries back and it is noted for great architecture and colorful paintings. This is a complex temple in which there is also a temple for Shri Sundareswarar. Thirumalai Naikar Mahal is another attraction of Madurai. It is also celebrated as Queen of Hills with its steepy mountains, variety of green woods and many tea estates. The town is elevated at 2,280 m from msl and having total area of 36 sq km. Ooty receives good rainfall from both South-West and North-East monsoons with average annual fall of 120 cm. Its maximum temperature on summer days never crosses 25 degree centigrade and the minimum temperature in winter touches zero degree centigrade. To enjoy the pleasant climate many thousands of tourists are coming every year from various parts of the world. The ideal time to visit Ooty is just before weeks of the onset of South-west monsoon AS we can enjoy nice breeze at that time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ooty Boat House lake, Ooty Children's Park, Ooty Botanical Garden and Dodda Betta Peak are some of the important places here to visit. The river Pykara is flowing in this area.
